The state of Florida is fast approaching 1 million cases of Covid-19, and unfortunately, that number is only going to grow as the weather gets cooler and people start traveling for the holiday season. Covid-19 testing is more important than ever, especially if you live in Miami-Dade County, which has approximately 215,000 cases.
The number of cases in Miami-Dade county is spiking
A spike in Covid-19 cases was to be expected as the weather started to cool and more people spent time indoors. Miami-Dade has been particularly hard hit. On the week of November 8th alone, Miami-Dade is now averaging about 1,000 new cases daily. Last week, when the state of Florida added 8,409 new cases, 1,940 were in this county.
In response, the active state of emergency in Miami-Dade county was extended on November 18th, and the nightly curfew that runs from midnight to 6 a.m. every day has not yet been lifted.
What can you do? Get a Covid-19 test!
Getting tested is the easiest way to protect yourself and your loved ones, as well as prevent the spread of Covid-19. However, getting tested has been complicated with testing sites closed due to flooding and unfavorable conditions from hurricane season.
Fortunately, Miami has many testing sites available at clinics and drive-ins. You can find the closest testing center – as well as the types of tests they offer – at the Miami-Dade COVID-19 Testing Site Finder.
If you can’t find a testing center that’s currently open, you can always get an in-home test with Drip Hydration. One of our registered nurses comes to your home to administer the test. If you received the rapid antigen test, your results will be available within 15 minutes of your appointment. If you received the RT-PCR test, your results will generally be available within 3 business days.
Your appointment will also include an over-the-phone consultation for any questions or concerns you may have. If your test comes back positive, our nurse will provide guidance as to your next steps.
