Frequently Asked Questions
What is Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)?
Testosterone Replacement Therapy is a medical treatment that involves the administration of testosterone to individuals with low testosterone levels. It aims to restore testosterone to a healthy range and alleviate the symptoms associated with low testosterone.
Who is a candidate for TRT?
TRT is typically recommended for men who have been diagnosed with low testosterone levels and are experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, decreased libido, muscle loss, or cognitive difficulties. Our healthcare provider can assess your testosterone levels and determine if TRT is appropriate for you.
Why do I need to have lab testing conducted and what lab work is needed?
Lab testing is part of the initial screening by your medical provider to ensure you are medically eligible for weight loss treatment. Biomarkers we test for include CBC, CMP, Testoserone, Prolactin, PSA, SHBG, and Estradiol.
How is Oral TRT absorbed? Won’t the liver metabolize the medication and render the oral TRT ineffective?
Testosterone, known for its limited oral bioavailability, has seen significant advancements in its oral delivery mechanisms. Similar formulations of oral testosterone have been shown to enhance absorption of testosterone through the lymphatic system. Contrary to concerns, this method allows the testosterone to bypass the liver, significantly reducing the risk of the medication being metabolized and rendered ineffective by the liver.
What is lymphatic absorption, and how does it affect drug metabolism?
How do I take this medication?
To ensure optimal absorption of the oral testosterone, it should be taken with a meal or source that includes at least 30 grams of fat. This aids in maximizing the efficacy of the medication.
Does Oral TRT have adverse side effects?
Side effects may include acne, change in libido, hair loss, increase in blood pressure, increase in hematocrit and hemoglobin, increase in PSA. PSA increases are negligible, minimal effect of blood pressure, and hematocrit increases are the lowest out of all forms of testosterone.
How long until I see a difference in my testosterone levels?
Individual results may vary; however due to it’s short half life, results from oral testosterone are seen rapidly, peaking within 4 hours after ingestion.
Is TRT a lifelong commitment?
TRT is often considered a long-term commitment. The duration of treatment can vary depending on individual circumstances, and it is important to work closely with your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate treatment duration and monitoring schedule.
Is a clinical review required, and what happens if I'm not eligible?
Yes, a clinical review is required to determine your eligibility. If you do not qualify, you will receive a full refund.
How will this impact testosterone (free, total)?
Oral formulations of native testosterone have been developed to provide optimal serum testosterone levels. Free testosterone measurement is a result of albumin, SHBG, and albumin, so increasing total testosterones will result in an increase in free testosterone given the other variables stay the same.
What is the effect on liver enzymes?
Oral TRT has minimal effects on liver enzymes as the oral TRT does not undergo first-pass metabolism in the liver, but since enclomiphene is mainly metabolized in the liver, patients with preexisting conditions affecting the liver should monitor the enzyme levels.
A 2 year study on a similar form of oral testosterone showed no evidence of liver toxicity.
What should I eat for fat with the dose?
When taking your dose, it’s beneficial to pair it with healthy fats to maximize its effectiveness. Eating less than 30g of fat will give you subpar results, and more fat will give you better results (40-50g). Always aim to eat whole foods. Simply taking 2 tbsp of olive oil is not going to produce results. You want foods to digest slowly to allow for optimal absorption of the testosterone.
Nuts and Nut Butters: 15-20 of any nut including almonds, macadamia, and cashews. 2 tbsp almond butter
Fatty Meat: Fish (3 -5 oz salmon, 2 cans of sardines), Beef (5 oz fatty cuts of steak and 6 oz ground beef). Chicken (6 oz, skin on thighs)
Full-Fat Dairy: Cheese (Mozzarella, Cheddar, Ricotta, Cottage), Greek Yogurt, Butter, Whole Milk
Eggs: Any variety, more than 3 at a time
Fruits: 10-15 Olives, 1-2 Avocados
Avoid: MCT oils (bypass lymphatics) and seed oils
I like to utilize intermittent fasting as part of my routine, how do I take the medication?
Take your dose whenever you take your next meal and ensure that any testing is done four hours after dosing. Ensure adequate fat intake. If your eating window is only at night, consider shifting it to the morning.
Do I refrigerate or freeze this product?
There’s no need to refrigerate or freeze this product. We recommend storing the medication in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. This helps to maintain the effectiveness and quality of the product over time. Ensuring it’s kept in these conditions will help preserve its potency and safety
